Jack Delton Batesole, 79 of Helena, Ohio passed away on October 26th 2013 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, Ohio. Jack was born on March 9th 1934 to Richard and Daisy (Beatty) Batesole in Fremont, Ohio. He was a Korean War veteran who served in the Army from 1951-1953 and then after the war he served 21 years in the National Guard retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was one of the few survivors of Pork Chop Hill and Chill Juan Hill in Korea. After returning home from the war, he married his girlfriend Norma Jean Floro on September 19th 1953. He retired from the Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters in 1999 where he worked the majority of his working career with Warner Plumbing and Heating in Fremont, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife who passed away in 2010, his Father and Mother, brothers, Larry and James. Surviving are 3 daughters, Carol (Rocky Guhn) Holbert of Fremont, OH and Patty (Phill) Schank and Kathy (Jim Dennis) Batesole of Helena, OH; one granddaughter Beth (Rick) Lemon and 2 great grandsons, Ryan and Jack Lemon of DuPont, WA. After his retirement Jack pursued his hobby of flying airplanes obtaining his pilot's license from Progress Airport in Fremont. He also went on to obtain his AP license to perform maintenance and inspect aircrafts for airworthiness. He was a contributor in the restoration project of saving LuLu Belle the DC-3 located at the Fremont Airport. He also had a hobby of restoring military jeeps from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, which he proudly displayed on requests from others and also participated in numerous parades. Jack was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2947 in Fremont, the American Legion Post 17, and the North Coast Veteran's Museum located in Gibsonburg, Ohio. He was also a member of S.C.R.A.P. of Gibsonburg, OH and the Portage Valley Flying Club in Elmore, OH. He will be greatly missed by his and family and the numerous friends that he had. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 12-2 p.m. and the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. Services will begin at 2p.m. with Certified Celebrant Maureen Pump. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites performed by the Gibsonburg American Legion. Memorials can be made to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio or to Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, Ohio.
