Herbert Schlecht, age 61, passed away at his home in Fremont, OH. He was born on February 11, 1952 in Altmunster, Austria. His family left Europe in 1957 to live in the United States. Herb graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1970. He took classes at Vanguard Vocational School and specialized in automotive mechanics. Herb worked for 36 years at TRW Automotive (formerly Kelsey Hayes) in Fremont. He was an outdoorsmen, who appreciated nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Herb is survived by his mother Berta (Moser) of Fremont, daughters Kelli (Stephen) Hurd of Tucson, AZ and Traci (Anthony) Cogar of Gibsonburg; grandchildren Haylei, Gage and Marissa Cogar; siblings Al (Betty) Schlecht of Port Clinton, Stefan (Carla) Schlecht of Puyallup, WA, Trudi (James) Tooman, Helga Friar, Albert (Barbara) Schlecht all of Fremont and Guenter (Susie) Schlecht of Oregon, OH. He is preceded in death by his father, Stefan; brother in law Nelson Friar, nephew Nathan Friar; great nephew Wren Schlecht; and beloved dog, Minnie. Visitation will take place on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 319 West Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH where a Remembrance of his life will begin at 8:00 PM.
