Santiago Garza, 81, of Gibsonburg, passed away at home on Friday, November 1, 2013. He was born on July 25, 1932 in Navasota, TX to Antonio and Soledad (Gamez) Garza. Santiago was a career truck driver, lastly working for ADS Transport until his retirement in April of 2007. He married Sara (Nuncio) Garza on September 29, 1956 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Genoa, OH, and she survives. Santiago will be remembered for being a family man, loving his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to his music and tinkering fixing things. He liked taking trips, travelling, fishing, camping, gardening and having weekend barbeques. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gibsonburg. In addition to his wife, Sara, Santiago is survived by children; Victor Garza of Fremont, Maria Clere of Hessville, Julia (Jerry Harple, Jr.) Hernandez of Fremont, OH, Antonio (Cathy) Garza of Burgoon, Blanca (John) Rupp of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and siblings Socorro Garza of Houston, TX, Solidad Vargas, Grace (Jose) Canales, Sorida (Steve) Hamline all of San Antonia, TX He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Estanislado and Antonio Jr. Garza. Family and friends will be welcome Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 6 at 10:30. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the care of his family.
