Gibsonburg resident, Arthur E. Clark, 93, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria. Arthur was born in Chicago, IL on October 3, 1920 to the late Theodore and Ellen (Steele) Clark. A 1940 graduate of Fostoria High School, he served in the US Navy during WW II battling in the Philippines and elsewhere in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters. On October 9, 1949, he married Helen Richards in Kenton, OH. Helen survives. Arthur was one of the founders of Atlas Industries, based in Gibsonburg and later owned and operated Clark Machinery. He retired in 1982. Arthur was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg, the NRA, Veterans of Foreign War, the American Legion and a former member of the Eagles. Arthur was a very gifted singer. He sang in quartets, the church choir and received many medals on a national level as a base soloist. He also loved to yodel and was a talented writer and wrote many poems. As a loving father, husband and grandfather, what he wanted most is for his family to be happy. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving him, in addition to his wife Helen, are children Courtland (Diane) Clark of Elmore, Christine (Daniel) Mitchel of Blissfield, MI, Lyman Clark of Lindsey and Carol (James) Jividen of Woodville; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Theodore, Gaylord and Carter Clark and Shirley Warner. Memorial services will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg or to the Sandusky County Humane Society.
