Phillip L. Ameling, 74 of Helena, passed away at St. Charles Mercy Medical Hospital in Oregon on November 22, 2013. Phillip was born on June 7, 1939 to George and Helen (Hudson) Ameling. In June of 1960, Phillip enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Lois Depner in December of 1960 in Woodville, Ohio. She passed away in March of 1999. On August 2, 2003, he married Carol Weddell-Miller in Helena. Phillip worked for Martin Marietta, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Eagles. He enjoyed playing pool. He is survived by children; Scott Phillip (Lori) and Connie (Denny) Hohlfelder, both of Gibsonburg; sister, Jean Todd of Gibsonburg and grandchildren, Amanda, Sydney & Dylan Hohlfelder. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife; son, Tim, grandchildren; Amber and Ashley Ameling and brother, Terry. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will be held at West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg at a later date. Contributions may be made to the family of Phillip Ameling
