Henry W. "Hank" Howard, 80, of Fremont died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs. Hank was born on July 6, 1933 in Fostoria to Fred R. & Fayette M. (Ferwalt) Howard. He graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1951. On September 10, 1955, Hank married Jean M. Hoffman at St. Ann's Church in Fremont. He enlisted in the US Army in 1957, spending 1 ½ years in Germany. In 1963 he was honorably discharged. Hank got his start in the grocery business when he began working for his sister & brother-in-law at Kintz'a Red & White Grocery, he then began working for Kroger's when he was 16 in the produce dept and later went on to work in management, retiring in 1988 after 39 years. He is survived by his wife; sisters, Patricia Wolfarth of Tucson, AZ, Margaret Bruce of Findlay & many nieces and nephews. Hank is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Kintz, Madonna Roberts & Beatrice Ruehle; brother, Alex Howard and nephews, Mike & Terry Wolfarth. Hank was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Elk's Lodge, Fremont Moose and the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing & gardening. Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. An Elk's service will be held that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Kenneth Lil will officiate. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 30th at St. Wendelin Cemetery in Fostoria at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, Oh, 43420, St. Wendelin Education Foundation, PO Box 836, Fostoria, Ohio 44830 or the donor's choice.
