Allena (Gilmore) Lee departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Abbeville, Alabama on May 30, 1921 to Wade & Vassie (McCray) Gilmore. Her parents preceded her in death. At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Free Will Baptist Church in Abbeville, AL. She attended school at Henry County Training School. On October 20, 1939 she was joined in marriage to Eddie Lee, Sr. God blessed this union with a son; Eddie Lee, Jr. and four daughters, Robbie (Warren) Daniels, Mamie (Frank) Harper, Betty (Bob) Patterson and Barbara Haralson. Mother Allena worked at Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide for over 30 years retiring in 1985. Mother loved to sing in the choir and enjoyed family gathering. She was a devoted and committed mother and adored her grandchildren; Creighton Haralson, Wayne, Loretta, Rodney & Thad Lee, Craig Daniels, Sr., Lisa Kirksey, Leah and Jason Harper; Mike & Ryan Patterson; 16 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and two special nieces; Patsy Carter and Jimmie Walker. Mother Allena was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Lee, Sr., daughter; Barbara Haralson and a brother; George Gilmore. Her soul was united with the Lord on January 22, 2014 at 8:15 AM. Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at the First Baptist Missionary Church beginning at noon with one hour visitation prior to the service. Rev. William Holmes will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
