Beryl Jean "B.J." (Myers-Pokorny) Shoemaker, formerly of Gibsonburg passed away on March 10, 2014 at the age of 92 at the Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, OH. Beryl was born on January 23, 1922 and graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1940. She was the daughter of Maude Mae (Seeley) Myers and Melvin Myers. Beryl was the wife of the late Lewis Henry Shoemaker who passed away April 2, 1992. They married on January 1, 1946. Beryl Jean babysat for many years for over 30 years for nearly 80 children in the Gibsonburg area. She was known by her friends for baking cookies, pies and candy called "Buckeyes." Beryl was a lifelong member of the Welker-Smith American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 17, a member of the former Fremont Mothers of Twins Club and the Woodville Mothers of Twins Club, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She joined the "High Stepping Line Dancing" group of Gibsonburg and was a member of the Gibsonburg Senior Citizens group. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Huffman of Tiffin, Mrs. Richard (Edith) Aldrich of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Baker of Gibsonburg. She has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Lewis; parents; 10 brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Lola Siefke. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, 3-7:30 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 14 at the funeral home on beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Maxx Ulderich officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, Autumnwood Care Center of Tiffin or to the donor's choice.
