James A. Smith, 59 of Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2014. Jim was born in Fremont on May 2, 1954 to Arthur and Geraldine (Davis) Smith. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1973. He worked for Letter Craft/ Toledo Sign for many years. Jim enjoyed cooking out, spending time by the pool, traveling, country music and enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved spending time with family and friends which was a big part of his life. He was an OSU fan and a Rusty Wallace fan. Jim is survived by his mother, Geraldine (Don) Jett of Gibsonburg; daughter, Lyndsey (Brandon) Smith-Carlisle of Toledo; siblings, Tom (Lois Baker) Smith of Oregon and Kathy (Wayne) Kauffman of Fostoria; grandchildren, Natalee, Melodee, Brandon Jr. and Graicee; many nieces and nephews, special friend, Dee, and his cat, Mandy. He is preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 11a.m. -1 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg. A funeral service will be held following visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be held at West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
