Gibsonburg resident, George Albert Miller, Sr., 75, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Windsor Lane Health Care Center in Gibsonburg. Born in Lindsey, OH on September 10, 1938, he was a son of Haldon S., Sr. and Rosalie F. (Aldrich) Miller. George graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1956 and later served his country in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, USS Forrestal, based in the Mediterranean. He married Marcia Kay Loomis on May 5, 1962 at First English Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, OH. Marcia survives. George went on to be a truck driver, formerly being an owner and operator then for Arlington Trucking, Haldon S. Miller Trucking where he was also the owner and finally for Mauch Farms until his retirement in 2012. George was an inductee of the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame and was a Vintage Race Car driver. He was a long time participant in the Rack-n-Que League and a member of S.C.R.A.P. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed antique tractor pulling and gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Pamela Kay (Dennis) Wiechman of Fostoria, OH, George Albert "Joe" (Shelly) Miller, Jr. & John Albert (Rochelle) Miller, all of Gibsonburg, OH; siblings, Donald (Deb) Miller of Helena, OH, Judy Miller, Daniel Miller, Haldon S. "Skip" (Diane) Miller, Jr., all of Fostoria, OH and A. Scott Miller of Fremont, OH ; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where family and friends will be received on Monday 2-8 p.m. Chaplain Tom Goosens will officiate. Burial with Military Rites will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Fremont, the American Cancer Society or to the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame.
