Ruth Marie (Kelly) Dieterich, 85, of Fremont passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at her home. Ruth was born on November 12, 1928 to Lloyd Eugene & Esther Ellen (James)Kelly. Ruth married Leland Dieterich on December 23, 1946. She worked in the housekeeping department at Elyria Hospital until she retired. She loved the Gaithers music and was thrilled to see them recently in concert in Toledo. She had a huge appetite for reading and was especially fond of the Stephanie Plum series and books by Lis Wiehl and Sylvia Browne. Ruth enjoyed crafting, such as embroidery and beadwork, making Christmas ornaments for friends and family every year. She also had a great collection of teddy bears, and loved receiving cards and flowers. And although never seeing family as much as she wanted, she was proud of them and spoke of them often, remembering great details of family history. Ruth enjoyed regular outings for meals with her son & daughter-in-law and especially enjoyed Billy's because they're always so friendly, El Rancho, and Jolly Rogers fish because it's fried, not 'naked fish'. In earlier years, she enjoyed being in the kitchen decorating cakes, and had a fruitcake recipe that was actually enjoyed and requested by the family. Ruth was strong in her faith, a member of First United Methodist Church in Elyria, and since moving to Fremont was attending Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed discussing the possibilities of the afterlife and especially liked the Sylvia Browne philosophy, "Love God, Do Good, Shut Up and Go Home". She is survived by children, Karen (Marvin) Ward of Brimfield, OH, Kenneth (Jeanne) Dieterich of Fremont, and Kristine (Chuck) Storm of Grandfield, OK; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 3:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home where family and friends are welcome to gather for an hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Bob Young will be officiating. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorials may be made to Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont or to the donor's choice.
