Charles Wammes

Charles L. Wammes, 81, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1933 to Clarence Sr. and Hazel (Biehler) Wammes in Rice Twp. Charles graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1950. He then enlisted into the Air Force in October of that same year, served in the Korean War, and was Honorably Discharged in October 1954. He then began his career at Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, Ohio in 1955. He advanced through 18 different positions as he continued his education through study at ICS and the University of Toledo. Charles retired from Whirlpool in 1989 and then worked part time for Shore-Nuf Charters at Drawbridge Marina until retiring in 2012. Charles greatly enjoyed his family and was an avid Hunter and Fisherman. He was a founding Member of The Coon Creek Hunt Club, as well as member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He married Suzanne Coleman in 1956 at St. Ann Catholic Church, and she survives. Charles is also survived by children, Brian (Gwen) Wammes of Clyde, and Randy (Brandi) Wammes and Suzette Wammes, both of Fremont; grandchildren, Trenton, Miranda, Madelyn, and Marissa; and brother, Ray (Jennie) Wammes of Sandusky. He is preceded in death by his son, Scott Charles Wammes; and siblings, Harold, Cy, Joe, Clarence Jr. and Anna. Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 3 Fr. Kenneth Lil will be officiating. A celebration of his life gathering will take place at The Coon Creek Hunt Club at 1589 North State Route 510, Vickery, Ohio 43464 following the service. A Private Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
