Jackie R. Sparks, 77, passed at his Gibsonburg home, Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Born in Lewis County, KY on January 5, 1937, Jackie was a son of James and Myrtle (Smith) Sparks. On October 22, 1955, he married Hattie "Della" Snyder in Lewis County. She survives. Jackie was known to be a pleasant and friendly man that deeply cared for his family and close friends. As a machine operator at the former Pfizer Lime Plant, Gibsonburg and lastly at Norton Crankshaft of Fostoria, he retired in 1990 to enjoy the fellowship of his family, fishing and listening to country music. Surviving him is his wife of 58 years, Della; children, Viola Chase of Helena, Joyce Nolen of Gibsonburg, and Jerry (Deb) Sparks of Fostoria; daughter-in-law, Mary Sparks of Vanceburg, KY; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and brother-in-law, Bill Hammons of London, OH. Jackie is preceded in death by his parents; children Robin Louise and Virgil R. Sparks; son-in-law, John Chase; grandson, Brian Sparks; great-granddaughter, Kayla Smith; and 14 siblings. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Sunday, July 20, 1-4 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday, July 21,1 p.m. at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, OH where the there will be visitation beginning at noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the care of Jackie's family or to the American Cancer Society.
