Lifelong Gibsonburg resident, Helen A. Hill, 90, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Gibsonburg. Helen was born on August 15, 1923 in Gibsonburg to Henry C. and Emma M. (Fahle) Burkemyer. As a 1941 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and 1946 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing, Helen worked as a registered nurse at Fostoria and Fremont Hospitals. Lastly, Helen worked at St. Charles Hospital for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1988. Helen was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg, the Women of the Church, the Sunday School, and a past member of its Dorcas Circle. She also belonged to the Gibsonburg, Fremont and the Wood County Senior Citizens Centers, a lifetime Mercy Alumni member, and was a volunteer at the Bethesda Care Center in Fremont and the American Red Cross. On November 29, 1947, she married Harold E. Hill in Gibsonburg. He survives. Also surviving her are children James (Margaret) Hill of Genoa, Linda (Fred) Bursiek of Gibsonburg, Cyndi (Rick) Walters of Bradner and Connie Haslinger of Helena; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Arnold and Raymond Burkemyer and Inez Fetterman. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Monday, July 21, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 22, 10:30 a.m., at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg where an additional hour of visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Eisenhour Cemetery, Pemberville. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
