Gibsonburg resident, Gloria Ramos Salazar, 61, passed at her home Thursday evening, July 24, 2014. Born on September 14, 1952 in Fremont, Gloria was a daughter of Martin and Mary Garcia, Jr., II. She graduated from Woodmore High School in 1970 and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gibsonburg and a First Grade CCD teacher. She was a homemaker and a stay-at-home Grandma. Gloria was an avid participant of the Military Family Support Group, helping spouses and families of active service personnel. She also had worked in the Gibsonburg Schools as a bilingual teacher's aide for 13 years. Gloria was known to be outspoken, open, and honest. Those close to her humorously claim she was a member of the Potty Mouth Club of Ohio. Gloria is survived by her mother, Mary Retana of Oregon; husband of 39 years, Manuel Salazar, Sr., whom she married at St. Michael's Catholic Church; children Manuel, Jr. of Gibsonburg and Nicole (Brandin Walker) Salazar of Fremont; grandchildren Marciano and Antonio Salazar; and siblings Alice (Hector) Cisneros of Toledo, Albert Garcia of Toledo, Dora Garcia-Padilla of Denver, Martin (Jane) Garcia of Maumee and Diane Ramirez of Oregon, OH. She is preceded in death by her father, Martin Garcia, Jr. II. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday, July 29, 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg. Rev. Ted Miller will officiate. Burial will be at St. Lawrence, St. Michael Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorial donation may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Cancer Foundation.
