John W. Bronson April 25, 1920 - July 31, 2014 Judge Bronson of Pemberville, formerly of Gibsonburg, passed away early morning on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Otterbein Portage Valley, Pemberville. Born in Defiance, Ohio of I. Newton and Martha (DeVeaux) Bronson, he married Betty J. Loveland on June 2, 1945. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1984. His parents, brother, Richard N. Bronson, sisters, Lilian Bronson Mekus, Mary Bronson Gruner, and sister of Mercy Ruth Bronson also precede him in death. He is survived by sons, Peter J. (Barb) and John W. (Ellen) Jr.; granddaughters, Nicole Bronson Hoffman and Sarah Bronson Sendlebach; and great-grandchildren Jordyn and Craig Hoffman and Cohen and Avery Sendlebach. John was a graduate of Gibsonburg High School, Bowling Green State University, and Duke University School of Law. He served in the US Army in World War II and remained in Germany after his discharge as a T/Sgt as a Dept. of Army civilian attorney and JAG 1st Lt. in Hdqs. 3rd US Army, US Constabulary and 7th US Army. After his return from Germany, he practiced law in Gibsonburg and served three terms as Sandusky County Probate Judge. He also was President of BGSU Alumni Assoc. and a member of the BGSU Board of Trustees. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, August 9, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 317 E. Madison St., Gibsonburg, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Madison Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Betty Bronson Memorial Fund, c/o the Hilfiker Elementary School, Gibsonburg.
