Vernon L. Trautwein 85 of Fremont passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky surrounded by his family. He was born on February 23, 1929 in Upper Sandusky to Maxi Floyd & Lola Esther (Owens) Trautwein. Vernon graduated from Arlington High School and enlisted into the US Army. He served four years and on June 21, 1958 he married Julia Foster in Mansfield and she preceded him in death in 2003. Vernon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fremont the American Legion, loved to garden, boating, fishing, socializing with family and friends, and traveling to Florida to visit family. He enjoyed staying close with his family. Surviving are his children; Janet Daniels of Fostoria and Lynn (Mary) Trautwein of Bettsville, 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings; Crystal Newell, Irene Musgrave, Ruth Scheck, Leon & Everett Trautwein. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 5-8 PM. Services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Fremont with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 10 AM. Pastor William J. McConnell officiating. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Vernon's memory.
