Lyle Karl Blausey, Sr., 85 of Helena passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Sept. 21, 2014 at the Bethesda Care Center, Fremont. Born in Martin, OH on Aug. 24, 1929, Lyle was a son of Herbert and Erna (Helle) Blausey. He worked as a lifelong farmer, formerly in Ottawa County then in Sandusky County. As a farmer he represented Gries Seed Farms, grew corn, soybeans, wheat, tomatoes, sugar beets and raised livestock. Lyle was a member of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau and was on the Board of Directors for the former Rural Serv. He was a John Deere enthusiast and was an active member of SCRAP. Lyle also worked at Libbey Owens of Toledo and, most notably, as a fuel delivery man for Standard Oil Home Heat for many years. He officially retired after 65 years of farming. During his working years, Lyle also served as a Scott Township Trustee for 24 years. He will be remembered for his willingness to volunteer and his humble demeanor. As a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, he will also be remembered as one of its former deacons and elders. On Nov. 29, 1975, Lyle married Ruth (Buhro) Huff in Helena. She survives. Also surviving are children Diane (Bennett) Schoedinger of Columbus and Lyle Jr. (Dawn) of Monclova, OH; Ruth's children Patricia Grover of Jasper, MI, Judith (Roger) Buck of Lancaster, OH, Jerome (Peg) Huff of Bellevue, Teresa Kohler of Winston-Salem, NC and Randall (Kathleen) Huff of Fremont; grandchildren Mark (Ashlea) Bennett of Dallas, TX and their children Lake and Bryson, Jill (Clay) Bennett Iman of Denver, CO, Sara (Chris) Burrowes of Port St. Lucie, FL and their children Madilyn and Kendall, Brett Blausey of Reno, NV, Marie (Henry) Wetzel of Toledo and their daughter Olivia, Seth (Sarah) Kohler of KY and their son Logan, Alison (Jay) Picklesimer of Lancaster, OH and their children Reed and Brynley, Jason (Sheena) Buck of Hilliard, OH and their sons Eli and Emmet, Luke (Gretta) Kohler of Winston-Salem, NC and their twins Sammy and Millie Jayne, Geoff (Erin) Grover of Irving, TX, Laura (Zack) Reeve of Mt. Gilead, OH and their children Taylor and Garrett, Kyle Huff of CA, Julie (Jeremy Felders) Huff of Columbus and their child Aldrik, Cole, Quinn and Autumn Huff all of Fremont; siblings Bernard (Marge) Blausey of Williston, OH and Adrian Blausey of Genoa; and former spouse Dorothea (Thomas) Smith of Chadbourn, NC. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; sons-in-law Dan Schoedinger and Gregory Grover; and siblings Marvin Blausey and Audrey Myer. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 26, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m., at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg where there will be visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Rev. Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Metzgar Cemetery, Helena. Contributions in Lyle's memory may be made to the church or to the Helena Community Volunteer Fire Dept.
