Former Gibsonburg resident, Larry L. Stevens, 67, of Toledo died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at the West Cove Care Center in Toledo. Larry was born in Fremont, OH on July 5, 1947 to Harry and G. Eileen (Taylor) Stevens. He was a 1965 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. He then enlisted in the Army from 1966-1972, serving in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w 2 O/S Bars and a Sharpshooter Badge. Larry loved his country, was very proud of his military service and enjoyed his recent visit to the travelling Vietnam Memorial at Toledo's International Park where he rode as a passenger in a "Huey" helicopter. After the military he worked as a laboratory technician for the former Gulf Oil Corporation of Toledo. Larry enjoyed sports and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians fan. Larry is survived by his daughter Tara (Cory) Richmond of Montpelier; 3 grandchildren; siblings Shirley Adams of Genoa, James (Marilyn) Stevens of Gibsonburg, Kay (Todd) Vance of Helena and Karen (Allen "Charlie") Peck of Gibsonburg; sister-in-law, Rose Stevens of Fremont; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and brother, Richard, preceded Larry in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 27, 1:00 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Gibsonburg where visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Glen Herman will officiate. Burial with Military Rites will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorial donations may be made to the Gibsonburg Junior Baseball League or to the Gibsonburg Post of the American Legion.
