Vernon "Dorsey" Salyers, 81, of Gibsonburg died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Catherine's Manor of Fostoria. He was born on May 9, 1933 to Charles & Annie (Justice) Salyers in Rush, KY. On April 8, 1989 he married Louise Meyer. Dorsey was an avid hunter, bird watcher and Cincinnati Reds Fan. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Chyrel (Daniel) Nye of New Riegel, Connie Clouse of Fostoria, Christine (Daniel Bowes) Farson of Fremont, Edward (Mi) Carn of Norfolk, VA, David (Deb) Carn of Sylvania, Richard Carn of Gibsonburg, Allen (Kim) Carn of Madison, MISS, and Lisa (Paul) Fisher of Fremont; 20 grandchildren;19 great-grandchildren and brother, Charles (Pat) Salyers. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Venessa Renee Clouse; great-granddaughter, Morgan Horton and siblings, Shermon Salyers, Margaret Berry, Liz Fryer, Harvey Salyers, and Paul Salyers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5th from 2-6 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital. Burial will be held privately at Washington Chapel Cemetery.
