Nancy R. Tipton, 91, of Fremont, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg. Nancy was born on March 26, 1923 to Miller and Edda (Neal) Witt in Irvine, KY. Upon graduating from Estill County Kentucky High School, she was employed by the Estill County Rationing Board during WWII. After the war, she attended Crump Commerce College in Lexington, KY and worked for the State Department of Mines and Minerals. On October 2, 1946, she married Joseph G. Tipton in Lexington, KY and they moved to Fremont in 1951. In Fremont, Mrs. Tipton worked for the Herbrand Corporation, the Fremont Foundry, and Trico Glass Company. She attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church, was a homemaker, a member of the Fremont Federation of Women, the Shrine Auxiliary, National Secretaries Association, Beta Sigma Pi, the Fremont Country Club, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the League of Women Voters. Nancy enjoyed her life in Fremont flower gardening, interior and holiday decorating and playing bridge. She is survived by a son, Ray G. Tipton of Philadelphia; sister, Marjorie Hanks of Louisville, KY; brothers, Beverly (Virginia) Witt of Clay City, KY and Farris (Lovelle) Witt of Charlotte, TN; and sister-in-law, Betty Witt of Lexington, KY. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Ella Kate Eirk; brother, Willie Witt; and brothers-in-law, Carl Hanks, John Powell and Richard Eirk. Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held at Lewis Funeral Home Irvine, KY on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She will be buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Irvine, KY next to her husband, Joseph, who passed in 1988.
