Fremont resident, Hazel L. Noftz, age 92, died Saturday, October 25, 2014 surrounded by family at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont. Born on Nov. 27, 1921 in Fremont, she was a daughter of Howard A. and Margaret (Zink) Druckenmiller. Hazel graduated from Ross High School in 1939 and married Fred Noftz on August 7, 1940. They were married for 62 years before Fred passed on November 23, 2002. In 1954, she become a partner in the Noftz & Avers Embroidered Lettering Company and retired from there in 1983. As a working wife, mother and homemaker, Hazel was very active at Grace Lutheran Church. Her activities included the following: Church Council, Lutheran World Relief Quilting Group, Women's Missionary Hope Circle, Sandusky County Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Altar Guild in which she served as President as well as a member of Women of Grace Board. She blessed countless individuals across the world with her special Buttermilk Sugar Cookies as she sent them to all of her grandsons while they were stationed overseas. Hazel is survived by her children, Sharon (Jon) Altonen of Hudson, FL, Margaret Noftz of Findlay, William Noftz of San Marcos, TX, and Thomas Noftz of Marysville, WA; daughter-in-law, Eva (Saam) Noftz; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sisters Lila Avers and Faye Druckenmiller both of Fremont. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson, Benjamin Howard Noftz. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, 12:30 p.m., at the Grace Lutheran Church. There will be no public visitation prior to the services on Saturday. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont. Contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Wounded Warrior Project or to the Liberty Center.
