Fremont resident, Edward Earl Pitts, age 82, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 surrounded by family at home. Born on April 3, 1932 in South Webster, OH, he was a son of Granville E. and Emma (Williams) Pitts. Ed graduated from Marion High School in 1950 and attended Tiffin University for 2 years. He served in the Air Force in the Korean War, stationed in the Philippines, enlisting November 26, 1951 and was Honorably discharged November 25, 1955. Ed was a plant manager at Harbor Manufactory Co. in Genoa for many years before retiring from B&P Sales in Fremont in 1994. Ed loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed talking and laughing with people. Ed spent time boating and visiting Lake Erie and loved the water. In 1959, he married Carol M. Marquart at Mount Zion Methodist Church, Arlington, OH. She survives him. He is also survived by children, Mike (Janie) Pitts, Terianne (Duncan) Thomas, and Scott (Mary) Pitts all of Fremont, and Kristin (Marvin) Welly of New Riegel; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Meyer of Fremont and Larry (Laurie) Pitts of Sandusky; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Thomson of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Pitts. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m., with an hour of visitation at 9:30 a.m.. Burial with Military Rites will follow the service at McGormley Cemetery, Fremont. Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to Hospice of Promedica Memorial Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
