Woodville resident, Ricardo "Dick" DeLaSerda Sr., 87, formally of Carbon St, Fremont, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green surrounded by his family. Born on April 3, 1927 in Harlingen, TX, he was a son of Natividad and Serafina (Rodriguez) DeLaSerda. Dick served in the Marine Corps. as a Corporal during the Korean War. In 1955, he married Zulema Flores in Laredo, TX. Together they shared 58 years of marriage. Dick worked at Union Carbide for 39 years as a supervisor. Many knew him for his instinctive wisdom and selfless acts to help others. Dick enjoyed golfing and bowling; but especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Spanish Assembly of God, Fremont. He is survived by his wife; sons, Rick (Jennifer) DeLaSerda of Columbus and David (Carolyn) DeLaSerda of Fremont; 5 grandchildren, Cristina, Carlos, Antonio, Stephanie, and Nicholas; 1 great-grandchild, Benicio; and sister, Santos Garza of Weslaco, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; and 1 brother. Visitation will be at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m., with an hour of visitation at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Elvin Gonzalez will officiate. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Greenlawn Memory Garden, Clyde. Memorial contributions in Dick's memory may be made to Bridge Hospice of Bowling Green.
