Robert "Bob" R. Fuchs, 71, of Fremont, died on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Bob was born on June 18, 1943 in Pittsburg, PA to Gilbert and Mary (Purcell) Fuchs. He graduated from St. Elizabeth High School, Pittsburg, PA in 1961. He and his wife, Jo Ann, moved to Ohio in 1966 and soon after, he began his banking career. He was a commercial lending officer for Liberty National Bank/Bank One for 30 years. Prior to his retirement, he was a commercial lending officer for the Old Fort Banking Company. He served as Treasurer for 19 years on the board of the Community Health Services and also served as Secretary/Treasurer with the Sandusky County Agricultural Society for 7 years. Throughout his banking career, he served on numerous committees in the community including economic development. He served as president of parish council and President of St. Ann School Board. He enjoyed golfing, sailing, and watching baseball and football; especially the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent his recent years dedicated and passionate to greyhound adoption. He was the Treasurer for the North Coast Greyhound Connection for the last 8 years. Robert made a difference for hundreds of retired racing greyhounds looking for adoptive homes. Bob is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Jo Ann. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Stephanie (Converse W. Keefer, Jr.) and his canine companions, Rooney and Ty; several nieces and nephews; a friend and volunteer to many. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brother; 3 sisters; and his canine companions. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road, Fremont, OH 43420 at 11:30 a.m., where the family will begin receiving friends at 10:30 a.m. Father Ken Lill will be officiating.
