Roger Dale Eicher, educator, administrator, coach, and veteran passed away on the morning of December 19, 2014. The 82-year old of Lindsey, Ohio, was invested in education, sports, faith, and family throughout his life. Roger always had a positive outlook that led to many happy and successful years. He grew up in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. He received a bachelor of science in education from Defiance College in 1956. While at the college, he was a multi-talented athlete. In fact, in 1987, he was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame for achieving four baseball letters, three basketball letters, and one football letter. Also while at Defiance, Roger was inducted into the army and was appointed as Personnel Manager in the Korean War until 1954. After graduating, Roger began his career in teaching and coaching at Malinta-Grelton High School, then in the Pettisville School System. He received a master of education administration degree from Indiana University and earned 30 additional graduate credit hours at BGSU and the University of Toledo. Roger served various roles in the Delta schools. He later was hired into the Fremont City School District and held several administrative roles including, director of personnel and secondary education, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent. Roger was an active member of the Lindsey Lions Club, the American Legion, and various committees of Trinity United Methodist Church. After retiring, he enjoyed working and golfing at Sycamore Hills Golf Course and spending winters in Florida. He also achieved three holes-in-one at various golf courses. Roger is survived by Carol (Dimon) Eicher, his wife of 54 years. He is also survived by his three sons, Jeffery (Vickie), Michael (Peg), and David; and brother Chester (Linda). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Because of his commitment to education, Roger pledged to donate his body for medical research at UTMC. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 2 pm at Trinity UM Church in Lindsey, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 715 S.
