Irene Frances Brindley

Lifelong Fremont, OH resident, Irene Frances Brindley, 97, died at the home of her daughter in Temperance, MI on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 Born in rural Fremont on Apr. 6, 1917, Irene was a daughter of Chester F. and Verna E. (Trick) Hirt. After graduating from Fremont Ross High School in 1935, she worked almost 20 years as a secretary at the former W.V-B Ames Company of Fremont. She then worked as a secretary for 15 years at Hayes United Methodist Church in Fremont, retiring on Sept. 30, 1982. On Mar. 14, 1940, she married Morton W. Brindley at Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont. Together they raised a loving family, enjoyed bowling and traveling. They loved each others' company for over 61 years, until Mort passed on Feb. 5, 2002. Irene will be remembered as a very enthusiastic and caring person of the community. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, a teacher of Sunday School, Bethal Study, secretary of the E.L.C.A. Church Women, member of the Lydia Circle of Faith Women, the bell choir, Sr. choir, the Altar Guild and the Christ/Care Ministry. She was also organist for Faith Church for over 36 years. Irene was a member of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau and the Buckaroo Farm Bureau Council since 1941. She was a volunteer at Share & Care and the Historical Society. She sat on the American Red Cross Board for 21 years and was a former Red Cross Bloodmobile Coordinator and Volunteer, receiving the Clara Barton and other Red Cross Volunteer awards. She also received the Sandusky County Exchange Club Golden Deeds award in 1993. Surviving her are children, Kenneth M. (Debbie) of Elk Grove, CA, Dr. Dennis L. (Ruth Ann) of Sault Ste Marie, MI and Janet Brindley of Temperance, MI; grandchildren Amanda (Jim) Ward of El Dorado Hills, CA, Kathryn Weil of Las Vegas, Micah (Lindsay) Brindley of Sault Ste Marie, MI , Matthew (Tiffany) Brindley of Kalamazoo, MI and Elysha (Eric) Vincke of Traverse City, MI ; 10 great grandchildren; sister Lucile (Norman) Atkinson of Fremont; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mort; son, Allan; brothers Howard and Franklin Hirt; sister Anna Troxel. Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, 1-4 & 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Monday, Dec. 29, 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Robert Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH. Memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund or to the Sandusky County Red Cross.
