James W. Vogel, 71, of Port Clinton, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. He was born on November 6, 1943 to Edward and Wilma (Page) Vogel in Fostoria, OH. After graduating from Fostoria High School in 1962, James served in the Air Force from 1962 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He worked at Brush Wellman for many years in maintenance, retiring January 31, 2007. James was a member of the Port Clinton Eagles, Sandusky American Legion, Am. Vets of Sandusky, and the Sandusky VFW. James married Evelyn White on February 21, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives him. He is also survived by step-daughter, Cindy (Craig) Hanson; step-son, Randy Wagner; grandson, Adam; brothers; siblings; Duane (Phyllis) Vogel, Mike (Ruth Ann) Vogel, and Linda (Jack) Barthclett of South Carolina; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Catawba Island Township Cemetery, Port Clinton. Pastor John Luther Hite III will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Port Clinton Eagles. Donations may be made to the donor's choice in memory of James.
