Lyle Harold Haar, age 73, of Gibsonburg, passed peacefully in the early hours of January 6, 2015 with his wife, Margaret "Dolly" and son, Michael by his side at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon. Lyle, born in Fremont, OH on March 10, 1941 to the late Harold & Bernice (Beeker) Haar, battled hard against an incurable rare blood disease (HES) for close to a year. A devoted christian, husband, father, brother and friend; he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret "Dolly" (Williams) Haar; sons, Michael (Lena) of Gibsonburg and Jeffrey (Kim) of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Jason (Tarah) Haar of San Diego, CA, Josh Haar of Elmore, Aaron Haar of Oregon, Garrett, Cassidy and Cooper Haar all of Huntington Beach, CA, Gregory J Jr., Tate Haar, Sam and Matt Hamilton all of Oak Harbor; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Haar, Lillie Onley, and Easton Onley all of San Diego, CA; sister, Bonnie Reynolds; and brother-in-laws, Tom (Judy) Williams, Ted (Pat) Williams, and Terry (Marilynn) Williams. Although we mourn this great loss we celebrate Lyle's reunion with his late son, Gregory. Lyle graduated Elmore High School in 1959. Shortly thereafter he served 4 years in the United States Air force, followed by taking over the family homestead. He dedicated his life to his church, farming, school system, family and friends. Lyle was very active at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Sandusky County Farm Bureau, Lind-More Board of Directors, Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and the Gibsonburg American Legion. He was a Duke basketball fan, and enjoyed collecting train sets and gardening. Family and friends are welcomed to the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 319 W. Madison St, Gibsonburg, OH on Sunday, January 11th between the hours of 1:00pm to 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 12th at 10:30am at Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg with additional visitation offered prior to the service starting at 9:30am. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. A private burial will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Perrysburg. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Zion Memorial Fund or to "APFED" (The American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorder) to support the work towards a cure of "Hypereosinophilic Syndrome (HES)".
