Benjamin Scott Miller, 32, of Sandusky died at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Lucas County on Feb. 25, 1982, he is a son of Bruce and Valerie (Hiser) Miller. Ben graduated in 2000 from Gibsonburg High School where he was part of the 1999 undefeated football team and was a wrestler. He worked as a laborer for Mosser Construction for five years and went on to attend Owens Community and Lourdes Colleges. On Oct. 19, 2012, he married Jenelle Distel in Tiffin. Ben loved life. He was eager to learn, increasing his knowledge and aspired to be a scientist; all the while teaching others to learn in understandable ways. Ben was warm hearted and was "Uncle Bear" to his many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered for playing lead guitar for the band, "Hence The Wolves." Ben is survived by his wife, Jenelle; parents Bruce and Valerie Miller of Gibsonburg; daughter Madison; siblings Jacob and Casey Miller of Pemberville, parents-in-law Dean and Theresa Distel, Jr. of Tiffin; grandparents Vernon and Nancy Hiser of Gibsonburg; grandparents-in-law Dean and LaDonna Distel, Sr. and Frank and Toni San Gregory all of Tiffin; siblings-in-law Josh (Kristin) Distel of The Plains, OH, Jason (Emily) Distel of Bascom, Michelle (Steve) Risner of Fostoria and Jonathan (April) Distel of Tiffin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Kennard and Rita Miller, Jr. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be on Thursday, Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg where there will be an hour of visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Max Ulderich will officiate. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the benefit of Ben's daughter, Madison or to Doctors Without Borders.
