Violet "Pat" Ochs, 84 of Fremont, passed away on January 11, 2015 at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont. Pat was born in Mansfield, Ohio on February 25, 1930 to Josephine Anderson Hines. Pat was a 1949 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. In 1950, Pat married Jim Ochs at St. Joe's Church in Tiffin. Together they were the owners of the Bait & Tackle Store, also known as "Jim's Place" for 28 years. Pat retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Sandusky County M.S. Society. Pat was always willing to help with the funeral dinners at St. Ann's Church and volunteering for Hospice of Memorial Hospital. Pat is survived by her children; Thomas (Cathy) Ochs of Fremont and Susan (Dennis) Metz of Lindsey; grandchildren, Dawn Ochs Horn, Dale Metz, and Thomas (Andrea) Ochs; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Durbin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim and her granddaughters, Rebbecca Ann Ochs and Melissa Metz Starr. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Herman-Kinn Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Church in Fremont on Friday, January 16, 2015 beginning at 10:30 am. Father Eric Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery. In memory of Pat, donations may be made to the Sandusky County Humane Society.
