Dorothy Clark

August 9, 1941 — January 10, 2015

Dorothy Doris (Rapp) Clark, age 73, passed away January 10, 2015 surrounded by her family at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon. Dorothy was born on August 9, 1941 to the late Julius and Doris (Herman) Rapp. On June 24, 1961 she married Paul Clark, Sr. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville, Ohio. From their 53 years of marriage came four children Paul Jr. (Annette), Mark (Debra), Bret (deceased), and Scot (Ginnette). She has four siblings William (Esther) Rapp, Linda (Daniel) Dierkshiede, Dolores (Howard) Oestreich and Judy Bostater. She was preceded in death by a son (Bret), a granddaughter (Sara) and a brother in law (Garth). She also leaves eight grandchildren - Ann (Adam), Emily (Josh), Adam, Tyler, Nathan, Jennifer, Heather, Andrew and three great grandchildren - Lane, McKenna, Jadeon. Dorothy was a homemaker, Dairy Farmer and Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service. She also was a substitute teacher at Rollersville, Helena, St. Mary's Elementary schools and Hilfiker Elementary School in Gibsonburg, OH. She also volunteered as a mentor to students at Hilfiker School. She worked side by side with her husband building their farm and their future. Dorothy's greatest passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived her days for her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She celebrated her family's successes and shared in their grief over their trials. Dorothy was active in the church at Zion Lutheran in Gibsonburg Ohio. She sang beautifully in the choir and served with the women of the church on various tasks. Dorothy loved a good mystery novel. She shared books and was interested in whatever anyone was reading. She loved gardening both flowers and vegetables. She was always there with a helping hand no matter what the task - whether it was processing vegetables from the garden, helping on the family farms or just sharing a bit of wisdom. She loved traveling with her sisters - from Washington D.C. to Texas to Mount Rushmore. She enjoyed the time spent with them - always wanting to pick up the tab for the cab. She knew more than anything the value of family and spending time with the love of her life, her husband. Her family wishes to thank St. Charles Hospital, the ER staff, ICU doctors, Dr. K. Fernandez and staff for the wonderful care given as well the special care given by Dr. Ravi Narra to console with the family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2 to 8 p.m..
