DORRIS MAE SHAFFER, 85, peacefully finished her life here on earth on Sunday, January 11, 2015 and is now enjoying her homecoming with Jesus. Together they had four sons: Stephen Shaffer of Henderson, NV, William (Peggy) Shaffer, Jr. of Groton, CT, David (Brenda) Shaffer of Fremont, and Lee (Betty) Shaffer of Fremont. Dorris was a 1947 graduate of Gibsonburg High, where she was also a Homecoming Queen. While in high school, she worked at William's Drug Store. After graduation, she worked for a law firm in Fremont, and then when her children were older she worked for dentist Dr. Samuel Gruner in Gibsonburg for several years. Dorris was a member of Gibsonburg's Faith United Methodist Church, where she used to sing in the choir, served on many committees, and baked a lot of cream pies and goodies for many, many years. She enjoyed going camping in their camper for many years during retirement, western square dancing, making many different crafts over the years, and was well known for her love of growing flowers and gardening. She loved being outdoors all the way through to her last summer, even when it was a challenge for her. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, her sons and their families, which include grandchildren; Amber Druckenmiller, Jared Shaffer, Brandon Shaffer, and Brittany Shaffer; and great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Ethan, Seth, Libe, and Morgan Druckenmiller, Rider and Lola Shaffer.
