Lindsey resident, Mary Jane Melson, 93, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 surrounded by her family at her son's home in Fremont. She was born on November 7, 1921 to Arthur Furl and Elva Savannah (Sorg) Mosser in Lindsey, OH. Mary attended Fremont Ross High School. She tested 40mm anti aircraft guns at Erie Proving Grounds during war time, and many people knew her as a cook at Brush Wellman. Mary volunteered her time playing piano at nursing homes for 30 years during their church services and social hour, as well as at Trinity United Methodist Church for 60 years; where she was a member. She married Arthur Melson on April 1, 1945 at the Lindsey Evangelical Church. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1981. Together they had 3 children who survive; Sandra S. Melson Nichols of Shenandoah Junction, WV; David A. (JeeHyon) Melson of Fremont; and Roger L. Melson of Clarksburg, MD; grandchildren, Ruthie (Joe) Couch, David (Barrie) Nichols, Daniel (Dianna) Nichols, Scott (Melanie) Melson, and Erin Melson; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Joyce Knipp of Lindsey; and brother, Vernell Mosser of Fremont. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Mitchell; and granddaughter, Beth Ann Melson. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2014 at the Herman-Kinn Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Grace Community Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Grandson-in-law, Pastor Joe Couch will officiate.
