Mrs. Anna Rose Myers of Fremont, OH passed away quietly on February 12, 2015 at the Riverview Health Care Center after a brief illness. Ann was born on December 13, 1922 and was the daughter of Leroy Liter Mason and Mabel Clorisa Mason of Fremont. In 1942 she married Richard Myers of Gibsonburg and the couple lived in Gibsonburg through the war years and beyond, with Richard serving in the Army Air Corp. She and Richard had 2 children, Judy and Richard. Her husband's parents established Myers A Station in 1932, a well known truck stop on Route 20 near Elmore. By the 1950's, the A Station was serving as many as 1500 meals a day and offering sleeping accommodations for 50 cents per night to truckers. It also boasted a showroom stocked with equipment sought after by truckers. This was a forerunner of what we call "C Stores" today. Although the business fell off somewhat after the turnpike opened in the mid 50's, the truck stop was purchased from the founders and operated as a truck stop until Richard's death in 1972. At that point, Ann converted the business into a restaurant only, called Myers Family Restaurant, known for homemade pies and baked chicken. She operated the business for many years until her retirement. Even later, she never learned to cook in small quantities. Ann gained additional life experiences by following her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild to Saint Louis, MO and Doswell, VA, returning to the Fremont area in 1999. She lived out the balance of her life on a waterfowl farm just north of Fremont. Ann was an active member in the Gibsonburg American Legion Auxiliary for over 6 decades, using her food preparation skills to pull together many special meals for members and families. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Mabel Mason; her husband, Richard Nelson Myers; and her brother, Clarence "Bud" Mason. Surviving are her son, Richard Floyd Myers; her daughter, Judy Lynn (Richard) Kuhlman; and her grandson, Bret Richard (Stephanie) Kuhlman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 beginning at 10:30 a.m. with an additional one hour of visitation being held prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Linda Rahe officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
