Virginia Faye Hilt, 91, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at her rural Gibsonburg home. Born in Gibsonburg on January 11, 1924, she was a daughter of Clarence and Ada L. (Charlton) Harpel. Born a city girl but living on a farm most her life, she will be remembered for her discipline, sharp wit, willingness to spend time with her family and visitors and her ability to laugh. She enjoyed gardening, feeding her cats and free range chickens, and the occasional trip to the casino. She will be missed by those who knew her as "Aunt Mike". Virginia graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1941 and soon thereafter, she married Darrel D. "Count" Hilt on September 12, 1941. He passed October 21, 1995. Virginia was a member of the former Garfield Church of Christ, Gibsonburg and the Order of the Eastern Stars. She is survived by her children, Judith (James) Hansen of Luckey, Sandra (James) Sander of Gibsonburg, Edward (Marilynn) Hilt of FL, Frederick (Theresa) Hilt of Gibsonburg, Beverly (Jake) Jacobs of Gibsonburg, and Donald (Kimberly) Hilt of PA; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Helen Egbert and Howard Harpel, both of Gibsonburg. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel; and siblings, Ruth Kerr, Dorothy Bradner, and Robert Harpel. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services (319 W. Madison St., Gibsonburg, OH) on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2-7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
