Harley Maxwell, 87, of Gibsonburg, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at St. Catherine's Manor of Fostoria. He was born in Toledo on Feb. 2, 1928 to Claude & Luthena (McClure) Maxwell. Harley served our country in the Navy; being stationed on 3 different aircraft carriers during WWII. He married Doris J. Riley on Oct. 28, 1950, in Bradner, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2007. Harley worked as a Kiln Burner at Pfizer Lime for 21 years until its closure. He then went on to Whilrpool working in its Plastics Department until his retirement in 1991. Harley enjoyed spending his spare time reading and golfing. Surviving are children, Dennis (Valerie) Maxwell of Leomister, Mass., Sharon (Marion) Stahl of Gibsonburg, Mark (Kimberly) Maxwell of Clyde, and Douglas (Stacy) Maxwell of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert and David Maxwell. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; and siblings, Mary, Maureen, Ann, Ben, Ardell and Dick. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 beginning 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Max Ulderich will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
