Vera L. Knott, 90, of Fremont, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Elmwood Nursing Center, Fremont. Left to mourn her loss are three daughters, Sharon (Steve Mutchler) Gill, Nancy (Jim) Swartz, and Sandy (Mike) Mutchler, all of Fremont; 6 grandchildren, Angela Paul, Ryan Wolf, Joe Mutchler, Tony and Dominic Fantozzi, and Jimmy Swartz; 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob Suncire, Kennedy Paul, Merica, William, Makenna, Aidan, Mason and Brennan Wolf, Vivienne Fantozzi, Owen and Cody Swartz; and sister, Annabelle Nolan of Mt. Pleasant, TN. She was born on September 7, 1924 in Clyde, the daughter of the late Alba J. and Katherine (Miller) Howey. She married Lawrence Knott on July 6, 1944; he preceded her in death on November 16, 1995. Vera was very active in her church and belonged to several local clubs and auxiliaries. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont. She also stayed active in the Moose Lodge, Eagle Club, and VFW. She chaired several events over the years, including the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund, and the Jimmie Durante Fund. Some of the other club organizations were the Eagles Aux. Drill team, Trustee of the Aux., and Inside Guard. During her life, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she also volunteered in numerous groups in Fremont. She belonged to the Kings Daughters, the Buckeye Breakers (Blondie K), the Soup Kitchen, and the Liberty Center (where she stayed at box city overnight at the age of 76!!). She spent much of her free time at the Goodwill volunteering for many years, where she was awarded the "Volunteer of the Year" in 2001. In 2005, she received the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Award from WSOS of Sandusky County for her volunteer services. She was the Eagles Aux. "Mother of the Year" in 1986. She also enjoyed her time being involved with Block Watch, helping in church activities, and visiting the residents at Bethesda Care Nursing Home, Fremont. Vera worked at several companies in the Fremont area. The General Cutlery, Peter Eckrich & Sons, and Emerson Electric. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Beverly Jean; husband, Lawrence; twin great-grandsons, Zachery and Patrick Wolf; brothers, Wesley, Alba Jr., Jimmy, John, and Charles; and sisters, Katherine Miller and Gladys Richards. The family would like to thank ProMedica Memorial Hospice of Fremont, the Elmwood Nursing Care Staff, and all of her wonderful care givers. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, May 16, 2015, 10:00 a.m., with one hour of visitation being held prior to the service at the St. John's Lutheran Church (212 N Clover St, Fremont, OH 43420). Pastor Joe Lees will officiate. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont following the service. Contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont, the Liberty Center, or to the donor's choice in Vera's memory.
