Jean L. Reichert

December 30, 1929 — May 11, 2015

Jean L. Reichert December 30, 1929 - May 11, 2015 Jean L. Reichert, 85, of Ellicott City, Maryland, formally of Fremont, Ohio, was met at the heavenly gates by previously departed friends and family, welcoming her to her eternal home in heaven after a brief illness. While loved ones grieve on earth, those in heaven are celebrating the new partnerships being formed in the pinochle and euchre games being played. Jean lived with her son, John Reichert, and his wife, Marcia, who shared their home and their love with her for the past eight years. Jean favored the spring, especially seeing the new green leaves on the trees and bushes after the long winter, with green being her favorite color, and the multitude of colors from the blooming flowers of spring. Springtime is a bit duller with the loss of Jean as her enthusiasm for the blossoms of spring inspired all around her and seemingly made the colors of spring that much more colorful and vibrant. Jean was born in Fremont to Harold "Harley" and Mary (Groby) Swedersky and graduated from Ross High School in 1948. She was employed at Woolworths Dime Store, Erie Proving Grounds, and was co-owner of the Honky Tonk Tavern in Clyde Ohio. Later in life, she took up child care and adopted countless "grandchildren" in caring for them, she loved each and every one of them. Jean was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ellicott City, Maryland and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hessville, Ohio. She married the love of her life, the late Darwin A. Reichert, in Auburn, Indiana in 1951, and enjoyed traveling on vacations with the family, until his passing in 1980. Recognizing that life is meant to be shared with others, Jean married the late Paul R. Hensgen in 1984 and she travelled with him to Europe twice, and many times to Florida and Maryland on vacations, until his passing in 2002. She loved her Cleveland Browns and Indians (though had also come to enjoy watching the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens), THE Ohio State Buckeyes, and, of course, the Fremont Ross Little Giants. Jean is survived by sister, Betty Parsons of Fremont; her stepson, Eldred "Rick" Reichert of Ashland, Oregon; children, Susan Fields of Toledo, Mary (Kerry) Mousseau of Christmas, Michigan, John (Marcia) Reichert of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Tom (Vicky) Reichert of New Port Richie, Florida; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Darwin A. Reichert, and Paul R. Hensgen, both of Fremont; her son Michael D. Reichert and daughter-in-law Kimberley (Lennhoff) Reichert of Vickery; sister, Alice M. Tack of Kissimmee, Florida; and brother, Kenneth "Kenny" Swedersky of Fremont. Visitation: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fremont. Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at the funeral home. Rev. Dennis Wansitler will officiate. Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde. Memorials: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hessville, Ohio; First Lutheran Church, Ellicott City, Maryland; or the donor's choice.
