Fremont resident, James "Jim" Joseph Ackerman, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his residence. Born on January 2, 1946 in Fremont, Jim was the son of Raymond and Dolores (Zienta) Ackerman. He graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in 1964, and attended Terra Community College for electrical certification. Jim married Mary Jo Fisher on July 27, 1968 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fremont. Jim was in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam war from 1965 to 1971. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Eagles. Jim loved traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed going to his grandkids sporting events and going out with his in-laws. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Jim is survived by wife, Mary Jo; children, Kimberly (Tony) Leber of Norwalk, Kevin Ackerman of Tiffin, Reneé Ackerman of Fremont, and Raymond Ackerman of Fremont; brothers, Tom (Pat) Ackerman of Fremont and Ray Ackerman of Port Clinton; grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Bryan, Dariana and Elayna; and 4 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. where a vigil service will be that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015, 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Father Mike Zacharias will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
