Fremont resident, Betty Jane (Moyer) Koebel, 91, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont. Betty was born a daughter of Merle and Emiley (Diethrich) Moyer in Sandusky, OH on Aug. 23, 1923. She graduated from Sandusky High School and married Alben A. Koebel on Jan. 2, 1942. Al survives in Fremont. Betty formerly worked for the Ohio Bell Company and the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in San Francisco, CA. She later retired from the Northern Ohio Sugar Company. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont as well as the Fire Bells, a ladies auxiliary of the Ohio Firefighters Assoc. In addition to her husband of over 73 years, Alben, Betty is survived by children Thomas (Terry) Koebel of Greentown, PA and Eunice Koebel of Fremont; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her parents and siblings, Alfred and Paul Moyer and Mardell Hartman precedes her in death. As Betty wished, her body is to be cremated and interment of her ashes will be at McGormley Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or to Promedica Hospice. Our Fremont facility was entrusted with her arrangements.
