Robert L. "Brownie" Brown passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his Fremont residence. He was born on May 13, 1931 to Helen (McGill) and Lowell Brown in Salem, OH. Bob married Nancy Leffler on June 14, 1958 in Fremont. They have two children; Teri Lynn Hamilton and Michael L. Brown, both of Fremont; three grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Jordan Hamilton of Fountain, CO, Heather Hamilton, and Kirstie Brown, both of Fremont; two great-grandchildren, Mia LeJeune and Christiana Hamilton; sister, Bette Jennings of Scottsdale, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Bob worked for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 40 years, retiring in 1989 as service supervisor. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951, during the Korean Conflict and served in the Philippines and Japan until 1955. Bob enjoyed bowling and racing stock cars, but his most enjoyable pastime was riding his motorcycle, with Tail of the Dragon, TN, being his favorite ride. He and Nancy have been members of the Gold Wing Road Riders, Chapter S, since 1986. They enjoyed traveling and have been in every state but AK, WA, and OR. Family and friends will be welcomed to the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior to the services. Pastor Gene Weishuhn will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to Honor Flight.
