Robert Raymond Stein passed away on Wed., Sept. 30, 2015 at his Fremont residence surrounded by family. He was born on Sept. 17,1937 in Fremont to Ernest and Flossie (Rosenberger) Stein. Robert's father died when he was a senior at Gibsonburg High school. His mother remarried Lance Johnston, both are deceased. Robert married Mary Kay Ickes in 1956. They had 2 children; Roberta Brady of Norwalk and David Stein of Apalachin, NY, whom survive. Robert divorced and later married his current wife Patty (Ellis) Stein in 1991. Patty has 3 surviving children; Jessica (Ben) Good, Howard R. Billow and Adam Billow, all of Fremont. Robert has 5 grandkids; Robert Brady (Firouze), Mattie Billow, Jayci Billow, Kendall Gladieux and Mackenzie Gladieux. He also has 4 great-grandkids; Dylan, Aubrey, & Liam Brady and Shia Smith. Robert worked at Brush-Wellman from 1966 -1999 as a machinist. He has always donated his time to kids in the community. Robert started the first flag football team at Stamm Elementary. He also coached little league baseball and the girls swim team at the YMCA. Robert was president of Stamm PTA in 1969. He was Master of Masons Gibsonburg Lodge 575 for 2 yrs. Robert was president of Sandusky County Kin Hunters in 2009. He received a Distinguished Service Award from the Jaycees in 2009. Robert also received a Service Award from time he devoted to the YMCA in 1970-1971. He was voted Man of the Year in Fremont in 1972. Over the years, Robert also taught Sunday school at Shiloh United Methodist church. Robert is also preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Collins of Lima and Grace Hopkins of Fremont. Family & Friends will be welcomed on Sat. Oct. 3, 12 to 4 p.m. , at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, where Masonic Services will begin at noon. Immediately following visitation, a special time of fellowship and a meal will be shared at the Fremont Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be private at Metzgar Cemetery, Helena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masons or Shiloh United Methodist Church, Helena.
