Gibsonburg resident, James "Jim" J. Irmen, 84, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 2, 1931 in Oregon, OH to the late Mathias & Elsie (Easterwood) Irmen. Jim worked as a pipe-fitter at LOF and had also been a part-time farmer until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, he worked part-time at Ole Zim's Wagon Shed. In 1952, he married his life-long partner, Esther Yeupell, at St. Ignatius Church in Oregon, OH. Together they raised their five children, and in his spare time, he enjoyed camping, woodworking and gardening. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Esther; children, Susan (Roger) Sweidan of Menifee, CA, Kathy (Scott) Krotzer of Gibsonburg, Judy Gonzalez of Fremont, Nancy (Kemp)Tyson of Gibsonburg, and Jill (John) Zimmerman of Gibsonburg; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 8 sisters, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Friends and family will be welcomed to the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Father Christopher Bazar will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michael & Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg with a luncheon to follow at St. Michael's hall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, the Cherry St. Mission or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
