Marlene Janet Mae (Knott) Goehring, 75, passed away on Tues., Oct. 27, 2015 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont surrounded by family. She was born on Dec. 21, 1939 in Fremont to Erwin & Alvina (Gurtzweiler) Knott. Marlene worked at Faith Lutheran Church for 21 years as a custodian. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking bus trips with the Senior Center, and gambling. Marlene also loved watching NASCAR racing and Ohio State football. She was a member of the Eagles REACT and the Fremont Moose. On July 6, 1957, she married Robert Goehring in Fremont; he survives her. Together, they raised their six children: Rebecca (Tom) Sterling, Roger (Deana) Goehring, John (Becky) Goehring, James (Rhonda) Goehring, and Michael Goehring, all of Fremont, and Kelly (Mike) Masella of Tiffin. Also surviving are siblings; Diane (Fred) Dubbert of Port Clinton, LaVonne Knott of Tiffin, Gary Knott of Fremont, and Craig Knott of Green Springs; 19 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Marlene is preceded in death by parents; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and siblings, Della Zilles and Gerald Knott. Family and friends will be welcomed to Faith Lutheran Church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 31, where Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Robert Young will officiate and burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, U.S. Renal Care/Fremont Dialysis, or to Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
