Jeanne VanNess, 90, of Fremont, passed away on Jan. 1, 2016 at the Rutherford House, Fremont.
Born in Fremont on Dec. 4, 1925, Jeanne was a daughter of Walter and Florence (Wurzel) Wasserman. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools and married Jesse VanNess at St. Joseph's on Aug. 4, 1945. She was a homemaker and formerly worked in the office of Herbrand Tools. Jeanne loved her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren who all now have priceless memories. She enjoyed collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia, hummingbirds and listening to Daniel O'Donnell music. She will also be remembered for giving nicknames to everyone she met.
Surviving her are her husband, Jesse “Dooty”; children Dennis “Knucklehead” (Joan) of Fremont, Marcia “Mert” (Merle) Rufer, Jr. of Green Springs, Gregory “Byrd” (Connie) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Bridget “Hilmer” (Perry) Snyder of Fremont; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings Nancy Beatty of Fremont, Patricia Hoffman of Gahanna, Dorothy Little of Gibsonburg and Daniel (Pat) Wasserman of Fremont.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; a great-grandchild; and brother Joseph Wasserman.
Interment will be private.
Memorial donation may be directed to Fremont ProMedica Hospice of to the charity of the donor's choice.
