Fremont resident, Karl "Big Karl" Sengstock, 74, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at UTMC, Toledo.
Born on Apr. 24, 1941 in Castalia, he was a son of Charles and Edna (Young) Sengstock.
Big Karl was a long time mason, formerly working for the Celek Brothers, then at the Pioneer Sugar Mill and lastly with his sons. He retired in 2000.
Big Karl worked on projects in the Fremont area including the log cabin stone fireplace and refurbishing the restrooms at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds and the addition on the Ballville EZ Shop. He enjoyed spending time with family and fishing buddies on his river property, reminiscing about working with his sons and friends. He'll be remembered for driving around in a horse and buggy and his "Old Orange Tractor" in the, not too long ago, past.
Surviving him are children Norman (Dianna) Sengstock, Linda (Preston) Brown, Lois (Harold) Hall, Allen and Charles (Stacy Wagner) Sengstock; grandchildren Diane, Jason, Scott and Breanna; and siblings Sue Helfers and LeRoy Sengstock.
Big Karl is preceded in death by his parents; daughter in law Anne; grandson, Joshua; and siblings Lloyd, Loyal, Melvin, Norman and Darlene Knoblaugh.
Visitation will be on Tues., Jan 26, 2016, 4-8 p.m., at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, where Funeral Services will be Wed., Jan 27, 10:30 a.m. Norbert Mayer will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda Care Center's Activities Dept.
