Roger V. Stout, 85, of Fremont, passed away on Wed., Feb. 10, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. He was born on Oct. 31, 1930 in Fremont to Ed & Violet (Hodge) Stout.
Roger graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1950. He worked as a superintendant at Continental Fremont for 33 years and as a supervisor at Industrial Hanger for 8 years; retiring in 1992.
While active in the Boy Scouts, he was a Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster of Troop 302, Scouting Coordinator, Assistant District Commissioner, District Commissioner, Chairman Advancement Committee, Board of Review for Eagle Scouts, and Committee for Klondike Derby and Cub Powwow. Roger was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He earned the following Scout Awards; Scouters Award, Scouter Key, Sandusky District Outstanding Commissioner Award, Sandusky District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver Award, and the Cross & Flame Award.
Roger was a member of the Ross High Band Boosters, Ross High Football Boosters, and assisted with Elks League Baseball.
Roger was a member of Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, was Vice Chairman on the Pastor/Parish Committee, Commission on Education, Committee for Youth Work, and was Maintenance Superintendent of the building.
Roger taught welding at Vanguard Technical High School and served on the Welding Advisory Committee.
On June 21, 1950, Roger married Ruth Ann Carnicom at Hayes United Methodist Church; she survives. Also surviving are children, Scott G. (Rhonda) Stout and Randall L. (Debora) Stout; grandchildren, Lora (Derek) Thiessen, Krystal (Cris) Nelson, Scott G. Stout, II, Sean E. Stout; great-grandchildren, Garrett Nelson, Dylan Erdmann, Emma Nelson, and Andrew Nelson; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and brother, James "Larry" (Barb) Stout.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, LaMar E. Stout
Visitation will be held on Sat., Feb. 13, 12-3 p.m. & 5-7 p.m., at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral Services will be on Sun., Feb. 14, 2 p.m., at Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Pastor Alan Brown will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church/Boy Scout Troop 302, Stein Hospice Care Center of Sandusky, or Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio.
