Helen L. Gutschalk

HELENA: Helen Louise (Naderer) Gutschalk, 85, died Fri., Feb. 26, 2016 peacefully at her home.

Born in Fremont on July 1, 1930, Helen was a daughter of Joseph I. and Mary (Widman) Naderer. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1948 and married Lawrence “Red” Gutschalk on Oct. 13, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known and loved for her strong faith, her loving & forgiving nature, her love of family, especially the little ones, as well as the pies and cookies she often baked.  She worked at home on the family farm with her husband. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville and its Rosary Altar Society where she was a lifetime member and served as president; was a 4-H advisor; served on the St. Joseph School Board; and was a Cursillo member.

Helen is survived by her husband, “Red”; children Martha (Louis) Kummerer of Arizona, Annie (Mark) Blum of Galion, Dave (Mary) of Burgoon, Angie (Mike) Mehling of Fremont, Mark (Jody) of Burgoon and Diane (Pat) Baker of Helena; grandchildren Lou (Lilia) Kummerer III, Lauren (Adrian) Kosiara, Jill (Aaron) Matejcik, Ed (Katie) Kummerer, Rachel (Jim) Lott, Erin (Jeff) Shannon, Tim (Annie) Blum, Pete (Bekah) Gutschalk, Sara (Mark) Thompson, Brenda (Michael) Hamer, Kathy (Andrew) Fought, Ann Gutschalk, Andrew, Matt, Amy and Kelly Mehling, Jacob (Britt) Gutschalk and Zac, Luke, Isaac and Julia Baker; great-grandchildren Helena, Isabel, Merryn, Jane, Lauren, Alex, Genevieve, Vienna, Matthew, Marta, Ulric, Axel, David and Alice; siblings Betty Ochs, Mary Catherine Naderer, Paul (Kate) Naderer and Peter (Marcie) Naderer all of Fremont, and Agnes (Bernard) Boes of Kirby; and sister-in-law Millie Naderer of Fostoria.

Preceding Helen in death are her parents; son Michael Joseph; siblings John Naderer, Hubert “Dutch” Naderer, Ann Frankart, and Louis Naderer; and in-laws Irene Naderer, May Naderer, Herman Frankart, Francis Ochs, Viola Vroman, Rosie Gutschalk and Sr. Mary Ruth Gutschalk.

Visitation will be Fri., Mar. 4, 2016, 4-7 p.m., at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville on Sat. Mar. 5 @ 10 a.m. Rev. Chris Bazar will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Millersville.

Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary's Parish, ProMedica Memorial Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
