Ramiro Almaguer, 71, passed away at his rural Fremont home, Thursday, March 17, 2016 surrounded by family.
He was born on July 30, 1944 in Monterrey, Mexico; Naturalized Citizen to Guillermo and Juanita (Serna) Almaguer. Ramiro served his country as a field radio mechanic, 169th Army Battalion during the Vietnam War. He married Anita B Ruiz on July 13, 2002 in Findlay, Ohio.
Ramiro was a machinist at Kelsey Hayes/TRW in Kingsway, retiring after 34 years. He was artistic and creative; enjoyed canvas painting, photography and leather work. His hobbies included painting, golfing, fishing, remote control airplane flying, camping, hunting, and gardening. Ramiro was a member of the Tiffin, Ohio R/C Modelers airplane enthusiasts. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Cursillo Movement, and a former Moose and VFW member.
Ramiro is survived by his second wife, Anita Ruiz whom he married on July 13, 2002; children; Lora (Chuck) Harrison, Cynthia (Chuck) Mitchell, Melissa (Luis) Franco, Heidi (Matt Finnegan) Almaguer, Frank (Becky) Ruiz, Michelle Ruiz, Mike (Sonya) Ruiz and Mark Ruiz; grandchildren, Morgan (Shane) Kirkman, Peyton Harrison, Nathan Almaguer, Luis Franco Jr., Sam Franco, Luciana Collier, Isaiah Finnegan, McKenzie, Elijah, Joshua, Marcel, Nevaeh, Neo, Jada Ruiz and Michael; great grandchild, Rubi Almaguer; siblings, Robert (Dee) Almaguer, Hilda (James) Palomo, Estella (Henry) Garza, Lucy (Vince) Martinez, Roy (Rosie) Almaguer, John (Mary) Almaguer, Emma Hines and Noe Almaguer, Skip Bliss.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Guadalupe (Sanchez) who passed on April 28, 1989; his parents; and brother Jose Guillermo Almaguer.
Visitation will be held at Herman-KarlovetzFuneral Homes & Cremation Services on Sunday, March 20th from 1-3 and 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said, 11:30 a.m., Monday, Mar. 21, at Sacred Heart Church where visitation will begin at 10:30.
Burial with Military Rites will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice in Sandusky.
